Ramadan evenings always have a certain rhythm to them. Someone is arranging fruit plates, someone else is reminding everyone not to start eating yet, and the smell of samosas somehow appears out of nowhere.
A couple of nights ago I was playing around with Google Gemini and had a random idea. Instead of generating the usual cinematic portraits, I wondered what would happen if I asked it to create something more ordinary—a slightly messy outdoor Iftari where people are moving around, talking, passing dates, and someone randomly decides to take a selfie.
To make it more interesting, I imagined the gathering including a few well‑known faces. Not in a staged photoshoot, but in the kind of relaxed setting you see at community iftars.
I ended up generating three scenes. Each one captures a different moment of the evening.
Scene 1: The Few Minutes Before Iftari
Right before Maghrib, there’s always that short period where everyone is trying to finish setting the table at the same time.
Fruit plates appear, samosas are placed somewhere, and people are leaning across the table trying to fix things quickly before the Adhan starts.
For this first image, I wanted it to feel like someone crouched down and took a quick selfie while the rest of the group was still busy arranging the food.

Prompt Used:
Identity-locked selfie of me in a navy blue kurta crouched near the camera, with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Fahad Mustafa arranging plates of fruit and samosas at an outdoor iftar, casual, candid, shoulder-to-shoulder, warm golden-hour light, soft shadows, natural skin texture, slight motion blur on hands, spontaneous slightly off-angle 9:16 handheld selfie, no filters, no background blur, no cinematic effects.
Scene 2: Passing Around Dates and Rooh Afza
After everything is set, the mood changes a little. People finally sit down and the table starts looking less chaotic.
Someone passes dates around. Someone else pours Rooh Afza into glasses. Conversations start again while everyone waits for the Adhan.
For this scene I wanted small actions happening at the same time instead of everyone just posing for the camera.

Prompt Used:
Identity-locked selfie of me in a navy blue kurta holding the phone, with Babar Azam handing dates and Sidhu Moosewala offering Rooh Afza, casual candid interactions at an outdoor iftar, warm sunset and lantern light, slight motion blur on moving hands, natural skin texture, lively street background, spontaneous off-angle 9:16 handheld selfie, no filters, no background blur, no cinematic effects.
Scene 3: The Quiet Moment at Adhan
When the Adhan begins, the atmosphere shifts instantly. Conversations pause and everyone reaches for a date.
It’s a simple moment, but it always feels calm compared to the rush that happens a few minutes earlier.
This final image focuses on that pause—people sitting close together, lanterns glowing softly, and the last bit of sunset still visible.

Prompt Used:
Identity-locked 9:16 handheld selfie of me in a navy blue kurta sitting cross-legged at an outdoor iftar during adhan, with Imran Khan, Deepika Padukone in teal silk kurta with golden dupatta, and Hania Aamir in peach chiffon kurta with floral dupatta close behind, holding dates, warm sunset and lantern glow, slight motion blur on hands, natural skin texture, lively spontaneous scene, no filters or background blur.
Conclusion:
What I learned from this small experiment is that realism in AI images usually comes from the details people don’t think about.
Things like uneven lighting, slight motion blur, crowded framing, and casual interactions make scenes feel believable. When images are too polished or perfectly lit, they start looking like posters instead of real moments.
With the right prompts, tools like Google Gemini can actually recreate something that feels closer to a candid phone photo than a digital render.
And honestly, imagining an Iftari table like this is a fun exercise on its own.
